Self-service

All patrons may use our easy-to-operate flatbed scanners available on Floors 2, 4, 5, 6, and by TechZone in the Bone Student Center. The maximum scan size for this equipment is 11 x 17. You can scan to your USB drive, Google Drive, or Office 365 for free. You can also send scanned documents directly to any library printer for our standard printing rates.

Two archival quality 11 x 17 flatbed scanners and one overhead scanner are also available for patron use in the Digital Scholarship Lab on Floor 1.

Digitization Center

Milner Library’s Digitization Center provides high-resolution archival quality digitization services for the University community and the public. ISU students and employees requesting digitization of personal or university-owned materials for educational/business purposes may receive free digitization of a limited amount of material per semester, including up to:

  • 20 image of original material that is smaller than 11 x 17 inches
  • 10 images of original material that is larger than 11 x 17 inches and smaller than 51 x 36 inches
  • Additional free work may be approved on a case-by-case basis.

The Digitization Center also provides paid services for patrons seeking digitization for personal uses.

Audio, Video, and Data Storage Media

Milner Library is not able to offer in-house digital reformatting of audio and video carriers or obsolete data storage media such as floppy disks. Patrons are invited to consult the Association for Recorded Sound Collections’ Audio Preservation & Restoration Directory or the Association of Moving Image Archivists’ Supplier Directory for a list of vendors with expertise in these areas.
