When you are searching for an object, such as play money, to be used for a class, it will appear in the Milner Library catalog as a non-book item.  To search for objects in the Milner Library catalog:

  1. Go to the Milner Library home page and choose Advanced Search on the search box under Start Your Research.
  2. On the Advanced Search page, change Everything to Library Catalog under Search for.
  3. Enter the name of the object you are looking for (i.e. money [to get play money], skeleton, puppet, etc.) in one of the search boxes at the top of the screen.
  4. In the second line, change the drop-down menu from Keyword to Holding Call Number. Then, enter TMCNonbook as the second search term. Choose Search.
  5. If you want to narrow your results further, look for Tweak your results on the right of the search results screen. Find Resource Type and select whether you are looking for realia, a kit, etc. Your search results page will automatically refresh to show results limited to the Resource Type you selected.

If you find an object you want to check out, write down the call number and location on Floor 6 just like you would for a book and use that information to find your object.  You can check objects out at the Circulation Desk on Floor 2.  The kits that contain play money are in the Floor 6 TMC Nonbook section.
